Thank you for visiting our website

Thank you for visiting our website. The Bahá'í community in Tokyo, like all other Bahá'í communities around the world, is composed of a diverse yet unified group of individuals who came from different background, nationality, race and social class, who all believe in Bahá'u'lláh as the Messenger of the words of God to humanity for this age. As believers and followers of Bahá'u'lláh, we are called the Bahá'ís.

The Bahá'ís strongly believe in the oneness of God, oneness of religions, and oneness of humanity. The Bahá'í teachings emphasize that all of us, as creation of one God, are part of one human family. We take part in building a worldwide community by striving to bring people together, by constantly exerting efforts to eliminate all kinds of prejudices as they are the underlying causes of hostility and discrimination and by trying to promote justice as we know is one of the fundamental ruling principles in achieving a peaceful and unified society.

To learn more about the Bahá'í Faith, please contact us and we would be delighted to assist you, or you may join our devotional meetings at Tokyo Bahá'í Center located in Shinjuku, where we pray, we play music together and have friendly fellowships. Please check out the calendar of events above for more details.

What is Bahá'í Faith?

The Bahá'í Faith is the youngest of the world's independent religions. Its founder, Bahá'u'lláh (1817-1892), is regarded by Bahá'ís as the latest Messenger of God that reaches back beyond recorded time and that includes Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster, Christ and Muhammad. The central theme of Bahá'u'lláh's message is that humanity is one single race and that the day has come for its unification in one global society. God, Bahá'u'lláh said, has set in motion historical forces that are breaking down traditional barriers of race, class, creed, and nation and that will, in time, give birth to a universal civilization. The principal challenge facing the peoples of the earth is to accept the fact of their oneness and to assist the processes of unification.

Bahá'u'lláh said, "The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens," and that, as foretold in all the sacred scriptures of the past, now is the time for humanity to live in unity.

The Bahá'í teaching of the unity of humanity stems from the teaching that all humans have been created equal in the image of God, and that God does not make any distinction between people. The teaching emphasizes the unity of humanity transcending all divisions of race, nation, gender and social class, while celebrating its diversity. The Bahá'í writings states that since the human race is one unified organic unit, all people have the same basic capacities, and that the physical differences, such as skin color, are superficial and do not make one ethnic group superior to another.
